Board Positions Overview
HOA Board Positions and Responsibilities
The HOA Board consists of 4 elected Officers whose term lasts for 1 year (fiscal year). The board members all operate on a voluntary basis with no compensation. They are elected during the Homeowners Annual meeting which normally occurs in October.
President
The main role of the HOA President is to oversee most of the decision-making process, delegate responsibilities, conduct meetings and make sure the HOA functions at its full capacity and potential. Their are several recurring responsibilities that occur throughout the year, which the President can delegate to other officers or to even form committees. A listing of those responsibilities is at the end of the Officers list.
Vice President
For all intents and purposes, the HOA Vice President's responsibilities are the same as the President's, with the ability to assume the role of the President when they are absent, sick, unreachable or otherwise incapable of completing their regular duties.
Secretary
The Secretary is an integral part of the HOA Board. The primary role of the Secretary is to handle the documentation, communication to the residents and record-keeping within the association. Other HOA Secretary responsibilities include giving proper notice of all meetings, recording all meeting minutes and distributing all essential documentation to other board members.
Treasurer
The HOA Treasurer is responsible for the entirety of the association funds and the disbursement of those funds. The main role of the HOA Treasurer is to keep a detailed record of current funds and all transactions sanctioned by the association. This includes billing, operational costs and the collection and allocation of funds. They are also in charge of creating the annual budget and maintaining the right reserve level for any unplanned expenses, as well as making any approved investments.
